It is almost universally acknowledged that the single most important factor for a child’s success in school is not how much money the District gets, not class size, not curriculum, not teacher pay, not modern buildings. It is parent involvement.
We spend millions to reduce class size, millions on curriculum development, millions on increased teacher pay, millions on modern buildings. Why don’t we spend millions on the single most important factor, the factor far more important than all the others? Why don’t we spend millions working to get parents and families involved in the schools? How much money are we spending on the one thing that will bring the most return for the dollar - parent involvement?
